Improving the appearance of teeth with braces is certainly an option, but it’s not your only option. Our patients love porcelain veneers because they do a great job of concealing a variety of cosmetic dental flaws. In addition to mild tooth misalignment, porcelain veneers can be used to conceal flaws like chips, cracks, and severe discoloration. Veneers can be placed on a single tooth or multiple teeth. They’re versatile and look so natural that actors, actresses, and models have used them for years.
With so many possibilities for correcting esthetic dental problems, you really don’t need to live with a smile you don’t love. Please call our Long Beach, CA dental office to learn more!
TMJ & Teeth Grinding
Teeth grinding, or bruxism, and problems with your dental bite are both common causes of tooth sensitivity.
When you clench and grind your teeth, you are putting increased bite pressure on them. And when your teeth experience increased bite pressure, the internal pulp (nerves and blood vessels of the tooth) becomes irritated and inflamed, causing sensitivity to cold, hot, or sweet foods and drinks.
At the office of Andrew R. Jung, DDS, the treatment of sensitive teeth usually consists of bite (occlusal) adjustments to help balance and equalize the way your teeth meet when they come together. Occlusal guards or day guards prevent you from grinding and clenching your teeth while relaxing your jaw muscles. These treatments, along with topically applied desensitizing agents, can help tremendously in eliminating tooth sensitivity.
If you are experiencing chronic headaches and jaw or neck pain, you may be grinding your teeth without realizing it, but we can help. Dr. Jung has over 25 years experience in treating the annoying and painful symptoms of teeth grinding.
We would love to speak to you about how we can help you get the relief you need. Please call our Long Beach dental office, and we will be happy to arrange a convenient consultation.
